Research results have shown that manganese-arsenic alloy is the best option for solid-state magnetic cooling technology under normal temperature conditions..
It is well known that in ordinary refrigerators, freon is used to remove heat from chambers, which is not environmentally friendly. This gas is harmful to the ozone layer and causes a greenhouse effect..
Physicists from the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, together with colleagues from other countries, are studying magnetic materials and the magnetostructural phase transition in order to create a new technology for magnetic cooling. They investigated the properties of manganese and arsenic alloys, which have the required characteristics.
Direct measurement of the magnetocaloric effect in single crystals of the MnAs compound showed that the adiabatic change in temperature in a magnetic field of 10 T was 15 K. In this case, the quasiadiabatic heat transfer index of the sample reached 9500 J / kg with the same ten tesla. To date, this is the largest experimentally recorded value.
Recall that recently scholars synthesized a new material that has high electrical conductivity, like a metal, but at the same time is superhard and can withstand enormous pressure, like diamond, which was previously considered impossible.
